Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I enter Minecraft commands?

Press T or / to open chat, enter a command starting with /, and press Enter. In singleplayer, enable “Allow Cheats” when creating the world (or temporarily enable it using “Open to LAN” in an existing world). On a server, you need operator (OP) permissions. Commands longer than 256 characters must be run in a command block.

Which versions are supported by these commands?

All release versions of Java Edition from 1.14 to 26.3 are supported. Syntax can vary significantly between versions. For example, item data changed from NBT to components in 1.20.5, and game rules changed to lowercase names in 1.21.11 (keep inventory on death is keep_inventory). Select a version in the top right, and generated commands will use that version's syntax.

Can I use these with NetEase or Bedrock Edition (mobile)?

The commands on this site are written for Java Edition (PC). Many commands work differently in Bedrock Edition (for example, it doesn't have item components, and selector arguments differ), so they may not work as-is. The Java Edition of NetEase Minecraft plays the same as the corresponding version of the original game.

How do I get a command block?

Command blocks can't be crafted; you can only get one with a command:/give @s command_block. The server also needs this setting in `server.properties`: enable-command-block=true. Click “Command Block” in any tool's output area to get a command block preloaded with the current command.
